Adrenal Fatigue Books

Because many doctors are unfamiliar with adrenal fatigue, and because a successful recovery from adrenal fatigue is largely in your own hands, it is imperative that you learn all you can about

  • how your adrenal glands work
  • what causes adrenal exhaustion
  • and how to change your lifestyle to reduce your exposure to the things that cause adrenal stress.

Remember, YOU are your own best "primary care provider", and your own education is the key to a healthier lifestyle.

Are you overwhelmed with learning about adrenal fatigue?

Don't know where to begin?

Frustrated with yourself, your doctor, your family?

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!

I put this book together because it's what I wish *I* had had during my own recovery time.

The Metabolism Plan

by

Lyn-Genet Recitas

The Metabolism Plan: Discover the Foods and Exercises that Work for Your Body to Reduce Inflammation and Drop Pounds Fast is not written specifically for people with adrenal fatigue, however, in this 2017 updated version of her original book The Plan, the author devotes chapters to thyroid function as well as the adrenal/cortisol connection to your body's metabolism, and explains how eating foods that you are reactive to can depress thyroid and adrenal function, as well as prevent you from losing weight. She teaches you not only how to monitor your body for signs of food sensitivities (as in the first book), but also how to assess different styles of exercise, to see if your workouts could be the reason you are not losing weight! This book in my opinion replaces the original verson (you probably don't need to read both, the actual diet is the same) and is at the top of my must-read list for planning your adrenal fatigue recovery!

The Adrenal Reset Diet

by
Alan Christianson, NMD
The Adrenal Reset Diet: Strategically Cycle Carbs and Proteins to Lose Weight, Balance Hormones, and Move from Stressed to Thriving has a clearly laid-out, easy to follow eating plan for resetting your cortisol cycle and nourishing your adrenal glands to help you feel better fast. I have not personally tried this out, but it had good information.

Overcoming Adrenal Fatigue

by Kathryn Simpson

The author, diagnosed with MS, discovered that adrenal fatigue was at the root of her physical condition, and was able to eliminate the symptoms of MS by treating her adrenal insufficiency. Overcoming Adrenal Fatigue is a well-organized compilation of what she learned about adrenal function. While not as "deep" as Dr. Wilson's book, she has covered all the important points and references all the current research on the subject, making it a much quicker and easier read. Her chapter on lab tests is excellent, discussing each test, what optimal values are, and what higher or lower levels mean in regards to adrenal condition. This book is another "must-have", and has become my first choice recommendation for introducing people to adrenal fatigue. She has also written a book specifically about her recovery from MS, titled The MS Solution: How I Solved the Puzzle of My Multiple Sclerosis.

This is an excellent introduction to hormone imbalances of all kinds. All hormones are interrelated, and this book will help you sort out your symptoms so that you can determine which symptoms are adrenal, which are thyroid, and which are sex hormone related (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone). They have great diagnostic quizzes, and then outline treatment strategies for each hormone group. This is an easy read, and a great starting place if you're new to learning about health related topics.

This is a comprehensive resource for those dealing with adrenal fatigue. It is currently the best book on the market for understanding the physiology of adrenal function, and the protocol for adrenal restoration. You might as well buy this one, because your brain won't be able to hold it all the first time thru!

While not specifically about adrenal fatigue, information in this book will be an important part of your healing process. Discussing all the components of a healthy lifestyle, such as eating healthy, sleep and the physical effects of stress and stress-related illness, Dr. Schwarzbein explains not only why you are so tired all the time, but why you can't get rid of that extra belly fat. An excellent explanation of how your hormonal imbalance causes degenerative diseases and accelerated aging, this book ties together the connections between adrenaline, cortisol, insulin and other metabolic hormones, and explains how you can make changes that will prevent or reverse diseases likeType II Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease, and how you will lose weight as a result of healing your metabolism, and why it won't work to try to lose the weight BEFORE you get your hormones under control. This book outlines 4 different plans for recovery, depending on your current metabolic condition:

  1. Insulin-sensitive with healthy adrenal glands
  2. Insulin-sensitive with burned-out adrenal glands
  3. Insulin-resistant with healthy adrenal glands
  4. Insulin-resistant with burned-out adrenal glands

This is the best book for understanding the connections between insulin/blood sugar issues and adrenal fatigue.
