Adrenal Fatigue
by: Marlene

Dear Anonymous,
Was searching for that clinic awhile ago, & it looks as though that clinic no longer exists.
1st of all, "adrenal fatigue" is not a real medical condition. The term is used to cover a list of common symptoms that many, many people suffer from. And a lot of "so-called authors" & unfamiliar co.'s are making a ton of money selling their books & "made-up" supplements to pathetically get rich quick off of millions of people that are suffering due to a "real" yet incredibly difficult to diagnose illness.
It took me 3 yrs & numerous specialists that do not know how to think "out of the box," or worse, actually believe that you can really be the 4 out of a million that actually has the disease. If you are a woman, & suffer from severe fatigue, weight gain in the belly area, thin arms & legs, hirsutism on your face, depression anxiety, weak muscles, easy bruising, increased fat around the base of the neck, cognitive difficulties, then I highly recommend taking a 24hr urine cortisol test, as it is the ONLY definitive test to rule out Cushing's & Addison's definitively. I knew that I had it, but not even Endocrinologists believed me. Any of us finally & correctly diagnosed pretty much have the same story to tell.
Once those conditions are ruled out, then you have to find a very experienced PC, to begin referring you out to specialists, ruling out all the major diseases first. For ex., if you are constantly fatigued, which usually co-exists w/other symptoms, then you might be referred to a sleep clinic, to rule out sleep apnea. Symptoms can be related to various organs, etc. But please whatever you do, stop reading all the fake articles, so that you can use your valuable personal time actually searching for the real cause of your symptoms.
Many Drs blame these symptoms on depression, which may or may not be correct. But then again depression can also be a side effect of numerous conditions. You also can be very stressed & overworked, or a bad diet, & no exercise. The truth is, we have to start by following our own instincts as to what each individual feels. Best of luck to you, let me know what you find out.

Adrenal insufficiency
by: Anonymous

U of M may be great for Addisons or Cushings, but they know absolutely nothing about adrenal insufficiency.

I would like more information. I live in Michigan and looked up the U of M Clinic, but it says that they are surgeons and concentrate on cancer. Your post says you had 'adrenal fatigue' and 'Cushings syndrome', which appears to be what I have (high diurnal cortisol all day and night). I desperately need help with this as I have not slept for more than 2 hours a day in more than a year.

The only Adrenal Clinic in the US is at The University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor! You are extremely lucky to live in MI! They will be able to help you. Best of luck, Marlene P.S. Please let me know your outcome
